In 1925, brothers Kenneth and William Willmarth, produced the most iconic view of the Canadian Northwest. A commission for the railroad, this poster embodies the vast land and vistas of Western Pacific Canada. In the foreground the silhouette of a man and woman are dwarfed by the compelling mountains and forests. Strong tones of peach, sable, loden, violet and periwinkle are pulled with a strong hand to give the viewer (and the puzzler!) a sense of awe and wonder.
